Immigration: Something Has Got To Change

It doesn’t matter where one is born. It’s about winning. And, the competition is for talent.

We have written about the need for immigration reform before. We noted that immigration reform has been a pet peeve of former General Electric chief Jack Welch. This last weekend, CNN had a special edition of GPS hosted by Fareed Zakaria. The subject was immigration reform and the message was clear: it’s about winning and the competition is for talent.

The program noted what we have commented upon before. People come from all over the world to obtain a tremendous education at our great universities. And, after we given them all of that talent, we tell them they have to leave. When they leave, they return to their home country and help their home country obtain a competitive advantage over U.S. companies.
