Statement on the H-2B Visa Program

Press Releases

Published: May 22, 2017

Following the May 4th passage of the federal spending bill which allows the Department of Homeland Security to increase the number of H-2B visas available for fiscal year (FY) 2017, New American Economy President John Feinblatt issued the following statement:

“The seafood industry is one of many that is dependent on immigrants to grow and create jobs, but our immigration system does not provide them an adequate way to get the labor they need,” said John Feinblatt, President of New American Economy. “This provision, which could result in more temporary work visas for seafood workers, is a good first step. But we need Congress to overhaul our immigration system entirely so that it works for businesses across our economy.”
