In response to the Michael Davis, Jr. and Danny Oliver in Honor of State and Local Law Enforcement Act, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Authorization Act, the Anti-Border Corruption Reauthorization Act, and the Border Enforcement Security Task Force Reauthorization Act, New American Economy President John Feinblatt issued the following statement:
“U.S. national security is a top priority, which is why we strongly support smart, efficient border security and enforcement as part of our immigration system,” said John Feinblatt, President of New American Economy. “But under these bills, a tourist who overstays their visa for even one day is treated the same as a criminal who has come here to do us harm. Focusing on deterrence is important, but the real solution is a legislative overhaul of our immigration system that meets our economic and security needs and benefits all Americans.”
