New American Economy Statement on President-Elect Biden Decision to Name Alejandro Mayorkas as New Head of DHS

Following President-Elect Biden’s announcement on Monday, November 23, New American Economy issued the following statement:

“Repairing the damage done over the past four years to America’s legacy as a nation of immigrants will be one of the most challenging and important tasks facing the Biden administration on Day 1,” said Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director of New American Economy. “Alejandro Mayorkas understands the contributions immigrant communities make to our society and economy, and he has the experience to lead the Department of Homeland Security at such a crucial turning point. We look forward to working with him to build a smart, fair, humane immigration system that reflects American values.”
