New American Economy Statement on Recent Federal Court Ruling to Fully Reinstate DACA

Press Releases

Published: December 7, 2020

Following a federal judge’s ruling regarding the DACA program on Friday, December 4, New American Economy issued the following statement:

“We applaud Judge Garaufis’ recent decision ordering the Trump administration to fully reinstate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which will require the Department of Homeland Security to once again accept first-time DACA applications,” said Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director of New American Economy. “More than half of DACA-eligible immigrants are essential workers, and this ruling is a victory for them and their communities. At the same time, the last four years have shown us that we cannot continue to leave the DACA program in limbo: Congress should act swiftly to provide permanent protection for Dreamers, including a full path to citizenship.”
