The American Immigration Council joined 89 other organizations in a letter to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and the U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary to include visa-related provisions in the budget reconciliation. Specifically, the letter calls for the recapture of unused family- and employment-based green cards and advanced adjustment of status filing provisions which would allow some people with approved immigrant visa petitions to become U.S. permanent residents more rapidly. The reforms would ensure that more individuals do not fall out of immigration status.
