Statement for the House Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security on “Another Surge of Illegal Immigrants Along the Southwest Border: Is this the Obama Administration’s New Normal?”

The American Immigration Council submitted a written statement to the House Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security for a Feburary 4, 2016 hearing on “Another Surge of Illegal Immigrants along the Southwest Border: Is this the Obama Adminsitration’s New Normal?” The statement shares our analysis and research regarding the children and families that have fled Central American violence to the United States. The statements also gives a brief overview of the basic protections that these children are afforded once in the United States and what the government has done in response.
