An Immigrant Olympics

Mayor Bloomberg will be in Boston and Chicago today pressing for immigration reform to be a top national priority.

And what better timing for the mayor’s push to open the doors that at the conclusion of an Olympics in which American success in so many cases relied on immigration policies that welcome those who want to cast their lot with Team USA?

Sanya Richards-Ross was born in Jamaica but won gold medals for America at the London Olympics in the 400 meter run and the 4 x 400 meter relay. Susan Francia was born in Hungary and won a gold medal in London as one of the American women’s eight rowing team.
