President Obama had a convenient excuse for failing to pursue a comprehensive immigration reform bill in his first term — those darn Republicans in the House, they were just out to obstruct him at every turn.

That ignored the fact that Democrats held the House for the first two years, when the White House chose to ignore immigration in favor of health care and the stimulus.
