More startup competition could be setting up shop next door if a bill introduced in the House makes visas available to foreign entrepreneurs who start businesses here.
U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) on Thursday introduced the American Investment and Job Creation Act of 2012 (H.R. 6210), which would amend parts of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
Foreign workers and their U.S. employers can currently apply for work visas through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. But Conyers said, those visas don’t encourage foreign entrepreneurs to start businesses in the U.S.
