According to a press release this morning from Republicans for Immigration Reform, more than 100 Republican donors from across the United States sent a joint letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging legislators to pass substantive immigration reform.

The following nine executives from Utah were among those signing the letter:
· Jonathan Johnson – Executive Vice Chairman, Overstock.com;
· Clark Ivory – President & CEO, Ivory Homes;
· A. Scott Anderson – President & CEO, Zion’s Bank;
· Scott Parson – President & CEO, Staker Parson Companies;
· Alex Dunn – President, Vivint Inc.;
· Ray Pickup – President & CEO, Workers Compensation Fund
· Stan Lockhart – Former Chairman, Utah Republican Party;
· David Layton – President & CEO, Layton Construction; and
· Val Hale – President & CEO, Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The Utahns included explained why there were on board with the letter.
“I signed this letter because I believe the current immigration system we have right now is de facto amnesty,” Lockhart said. “Passing sensible immigration reform would change that and would honor the ideals upon which our nation was founded, principally freedom and liberty. It would also be one of the best things we can do for our economy – and the sooner, the better and Republicans must come to the table to be a part of the solution.”
Scott Anderson of Zions Bank said, “The economic benefits of immigration reform are clear, and substantive reform is estimated to have a significant impact in reducing our country’s budget deficit. There is no reason why Republicans should not advance legislation this year, given the effects it will have on our economy and budget.”
