Date Posted:

October 19, 2017

The American Immigration Council is looking for a rising 3L to join the legal department as interns for the summer of 2018. Interns must be dynamic self-starters with strong research and writing  skills  and  a  commitment  to  the  Council’s  mission.  Intern  projects  may  include: monitoring and analyzing immigration decisions; legal research and memo writing; and drafting practice advisories, pleadings and briefs.

The American Immigration Council works to increase public understanding of immigration law and policy, advocate for the just and fair administration of our immigration laws, protect the legal rights of noncitizens, and educate the public about the enduring contributions of America’s immigrants. The Council’s Legal Department is staffed by experienced immigration lawyers who play a leading role in immigration litigation across the country. In carrying out its mission, the legal department:

  • Conducts impact litigation, including filing lawsuits against the immigration agencies and appearing as amicus curiae in cases before the federal courts and administrative tribunals;
  • Engages in administrative advocacy;
  • Issues practice advisories and other resources for immigration lawyers;
  • Monitors federal court activity on cases relating to immigration issues, especially those affecting due process, the right to judicial review, and eligibility for relief from removal.
