“Today’s vote on the Build Back Better Act is an important step forward for America’s continued recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and for millions of immigrant workers and families,” said Hanna Siegel, Managing Director of New American Economy. “Although we still need a path to citizenship, this bill represents an opportunity for close to 7 million Dreamers, TPS holders, farm workers and other essential workers to live and work in the United States without the fear of deportation. It also includes key legal immigration provisions that will begin to address the years-long green card backlog for hundreds of thousands of immigrant workers and families. We urge the Senate to swiftly take up and pass this sweeping recovery bill, which recognizes the importance of immigration to our economic recovery in the years ahead.”
