Following the confirmation of Alejandro Mayorkas as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, New American Economy issued the following statement:

“Alejandro Mayorkas is a proven leader with a track record of fighting for a better, fairer, more humane immigration system,” said Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director of New American Economy. “We look forward to working with him as the new head of DHS — to not only undo the damage of the Trump administration, but to chart a new course on immigration that is consistent with our values as a nation of immigrants.”
