Statement from NAE Executive Director Jeremy Robbins on CBP Treatment of Haitians and Other Asylum Seekers at U.S.-Mexico Border

Following the accounts of the treatment of Haitans at the U.S.-Mexico border, New American Economy issued the following statement:

“The violent treatment of Haitians seeking asylum at the Texas border is utterly shameful and has no place in our society — and it must be addressed immediately,” said Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director of New American Economy. “In addition to investigating the CBP officers involved, we urge the administration and Congress to work together to address the failures of our immigration system and build a humane, orderly asylum process that treats people with dignity and affirms their right to have their asylum claims heard.”
