Statement from NAE on Recent Senate Parliamentarian Decision

Following the Senate parlimentarian issuing a decision against including a path to citizenship in reconciliation, New American Economy issued the following statement:

“We are disappointed in the Senate parliamentarian’s decision regarding the inclusion of a path to citizenship for millions of immigrants in reconciliation, but the process doesn’t end here,” said Jeremy Robbins, Executive Director of New American Economy. “Dreamers, TPS holders, and undocumented essential workers have made enormous contributions to our society and economy, helping to carry us through the COVID-19 pandemic and drive our economic recovery. We look forward to the ongoing effort to allow these individuals to adjust status as part of reconciliation, and we will not give up the fight until there is a permanent legislative solutions for the millions of Dreamers, TPS holders, and undocumented immigrants who call this country home.”
