Akosua Meyers
Akosua Meyers joins the American Immigration Council as Chief Development Officer. Prior to joining the Council, Akosua served as Director of Development at the Center for Law and Social Policy, a national anti-poverty policy advocacy organization that centers racial equity in its efforts. Before joining CLASP in 2020, she served as Deputy Director for Institutional Advancement for nearly a decade at Jobs With Justice, a national workers’ rights organization. In both roles she led the fundraising and development work helping to diversify funding from multiple sources, while strategically creating innovative strategies in coordination with other departments to elevate the organizations’ visibility and positioning externally.
Akosua has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 2 decades. She has served in a variety of fundraising and development roles at direct service, policy advocacy, organizing, and research focused organizations. Her commitment to resourcing the social and economic justice movement comes from her own lived experience as an immigrant in the U.S. and growing up in Africa. Akosua holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Howard University and a master’s degree in public policy from George Mason School of Public Policy. Akosua Meyers is originally from Ghana.
