Atenas Burrola

Pro Bono Manager, Immigration Justice Campaign

Atenas Burrola is the Pro Bono Manager for the Immigration Justice Campaign. In this role, she manages external partner relationships for the Campaign, as well as overseeing the team which recruits and places pro bono attorneys with cases. Previously as Pro Bono Coordinator, she worked with large law firms to recruit volunteers and Justice Campaign partners to expand pro bono opportunities and representation for detained individuals. Prior to joining the Council, she co-founded fronteraTECH, a nonprofit that worked to build tech to scale the impact of humanitarian projects. Before that, Atenas worked at Human Rights Watch and launched a legal clinic at the Latin American Coalition in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also worked as a staff attorney with unaccompanied minors as an Equal Justice Works justice AmeriCorps attorney at Legal Services of Southern Piedmont (now Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy). She has spent significant time volunteering in detention centers in the United States and along the U.S.-Mexico border working with asylum seekers. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School and her B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania.
