Chris Opila
Chris Opila is a Staff Attorney at the American Immigration Council, where he works to enhance immigration agencies’ transparency via litigation, partner collaboration, and practice guide publication. Before joining the Council, Chris litigated transparency and other immigration issues as a Justice Catalyst Fellow with the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) and clerked for the Honorable Gregory B. Wormuth on the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico. Before law school, he was a refugee resettlement officer at the U.S. Resettlement Support Center for Sub-Saharan Africa and a resettlement caseworker for IRAP and St. Andrew’s Refugee Services. Chris holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. in International Policies and Economics from Middlebury College. He speaks Arabic and some Spanish and is a member of the New York and New Mexico bars.
