Training & Legal Support Attorney, Immigration Justice Campaign

Kelsey Sloop is the Training & Legal Support Attorney for the Immigration Justice Campaign. In this role, Kelsey provides mentorship and training to the Campaign’s national network of attorneys engaged in pro bono immigration representation with a focus on bond, parole, and both affirmative and defensive asylum. She further supports the network by developing training materials to ensure volunteers and local partners have the substantive and procedural information to succeed in their cases. Prior to joining the Council, Kelsey worked as an immigration law advisor supporting legal services for humanitarian parolees evacuated from Afghanistan as part of Operation Allies Welcome. Before that, she represented migrant and seasonal farmworkers during workers’ rights disputes in her home state of Michigan. She also volunteered extensively throughout law school to support asylum-seekers and naturalization cases while also working for a civil rights firm representing victims of police misconduct in Chicago. Kelsey received her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and a BSW and MSW from Grand Valley State University.
