More than 100 College and University Leaders Call for Immigration Reform

Leaders from more than 100 colleges and universities across the country urged their Congressional state delegations to support sensible immigration reform that will strengthen America’s economy.

The nation’s institutions of higher education have long been magnets for bright, young minds from around the world. Leaders in academia depend on immigrant intellectuals to help fuel research and development, create new technologies, and advance learning and culture on campus. But the country’s broken immigration system has sent some of the most promising young talent home to compete against us following graduation, and made it harder for colleges and universities to attract and retain critical foreign-born faculty members.

For America’s colleges and universities — and the broader economy — to flourish, innovate, and remain competitive in the global marketplace, Congress must act to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
